Introduction

This summer was especially busy for me, but still full of exciting fun and adventure. For 5 weeks I worked with the summer school program at Oakton High School. When summer school was over, I took a trip to Vermont for a week with my family and did a lot of reading on my brand new Kindle that I purchased from Amazon.  Now that you know three of the highlights from my summer, I would like to know about your summer vacation.

The Task

Using Microsoft Word, I want you to create a newsletter that tells me all about your summer away from Madison. (Really just three highlights) Your newsletter will be five paragraphs long and in a newsletter format, using the attached newsletter template. Of course, I expect proper spelling and grammar.

The Process

Paragraph One

Introduction – Give me a brief overview of your summer vacation. In your introduction mention three specific things about your summer.

 Paragraphs Two, Three, and Four

In each paragraph talk more in depth about places you visited, books you read, events you attended, movies you saw.

 Paragraph Five

Conclusion – Wrap up your summer with a summary

Each paragraph will have a title

 Examples

  • Paragraph 1: Introduction
  • Paragraph 2: My Trip to Vermont
  • Paragraph 3: Summer School At Oakton
  • Paragraph 4: My Kindle
  • Paragraph 5: Conclusion

Format

  • Use the newsletter template that I have provided
  • Single space – double space to set off titles
  • Type
  • Times New Romans
  • Titles 14 point, bold
